graphic translation is not a difficult process but it is complex. digital media is ideal for this drawing
process and vector drawing software was used in all of the drawings. through computer drawing the
designer can approach the project with scanned images as visual templates for drawing reference, and
collage images in order to create the best image reference possible. the computer enables a visual
record to be made of all phases of drawing without fear losing or destroying earlier versions. filled with

kimberly elam is the chair of the graphic + interactive communication department at the ringling school of art and design, sarasota, florida.
